Voodoo Sunshine is a power trio specialising in a tribute to the music of Jimi Hendrix, Cream and Eric Clapton. No dress up here. Just great music from great musicians. Hailing from the vibrant city of Dublin, Voodoo Sunshine is a captivating tribute band that channels the spirit and musical genius of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Cream. With their fiery performances and undeniable talent, this dynamic group has become a driving force in the contemporary blues and rock scene.
Voodoo Sunshine was born out of a shared love for the groundbreaking sounds that emerged from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Drawing inspiration from the iconic guitar heroes of that era, the band has honed their craft and developed a unique sound that pays homage to the masters while infusing their own modern energy.
Voodoo Sunshine's power trio line up comprises of lead guitarist Simon Peare, Drummer Mike Mesbur and Bassist Tony Carty. All long established players on the Irish music scene. They have come together to capture and recreate the spirit of legendary 60's power trios of The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream as well as some of Eric Clapton's solo career.
Simon Peare and Tony Carty have played in various line ups since the mid nineties such as Sinner's Prayer, Revival, Third Degree. Tony Carty's style playing evokes the playing of greats such as Jack Bruce, Jaco Pastorius and Chuck Rainy. Simon Peare's playing evokes the style of the modern blues greats such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Mike Mesbur is a highly respected Drummer on the Irish Music scene playing in bands such as The Lookalikes, Stockton's Wing, The Eric Bell Band, Zerra One, as well as subbing for a European tour for Brian Downey in Thin Lizzy. His playing is influenced by John Bonham, Steve Gadd and Brian Downey.
